Multiplicité des lieux

How is it possible to preserve a place that will be lost in the near future?

Sainghin-en-Weppes, located southwest of Lille, is a former industrial centre. Over time it transformed into an residential area, that now wants to strengthen its connection to the European metropole Lille.
An abandoned sawmill, that produced packaging served as a symbol for the vanishing industrial sites. The owner found a new site, the employees moved, while the old building seemed as if everyone had left from one moment to the next.
Different meetings with habitants of a retirement home, the mayor, a hunter and two company owners revealed different thoughts about the evolution of the village.
As part of a possible preservation of the ancient places and atmospheres the outcome is a combination of a 3D-scan of the factory, photographs and videos as well as footage of the interviews and conversations about Sainghin-en-Weppes.
